Ramblings

Damien Lafargue here retrospectively constructs a series, using images of various classifications, in an attempt to move away from the idea of the photographic “subject”. The images are collected from various journeys through France, Germany and the USA. These explorations aim to search for that which emerges from a usually overlooked landscape between the city and the countryside, in an attempt to draw up a personal inventory, a mixed geography of the world, inside the author’s mind. This work invites us to rethink the relationship between the image and the series. Various places, different seasons, the only persistent theme lies in those elements that don’t seem to be in their place in the landscape. It’s about recreating a collection, closely linked to the wandering of its author, viscerally detached from the reasons that led him here and there.
